How much does One Eye Shut cost?

This much!.
I am pleased with the pricing structure that applies to our commission work and our prices for images from the website. After all the research we have done into other competitive photographic services and all the bull**** that is attached, I hope that I just lay it on the line and that's it...These are my rates go and compare?

Any comments?

News...

I know its been 10 days since my last post, but nobody but me reads them. I have added some images of the Dean Heritage Centre in Lower Soudley, you can find them under commissions its well worth the visit.

I don't think there is such a thing as 'final adjustments'. I have been adjusting the website here and there all week! I have added more information on the images shown, so to give the viewer some useful facts or information about the area for example, I just hope it helps...

I have a few more commissions coming up over the next couple of weeks so I will keep you posted on them. Like I did with the flash!! I haven't had time to check it out in a number of situations yet, but what usage it has had so far the results are good. It will be used on some of the commissions coming up so watch this space.

One Eye Shut website

I have been doing some final adjustments on the website today and its pretty much how I want it now. Please feel free to pick out mistakes though? I think the pricing structure for portraits are more than reasonable and print prices for images are very competitive. Comments are most welcome.

Anyone want a free portrait taken? It would have to be local only and we would want free use of it for our website. You can have a copy of the portrait for free obviously. Get in touch... Another new feature is under reportage where you can send us your shot of the day and it might just appear on the website. You will be credited for it as well.

Is it just me?

Ever had one of those days (weeks) when you feel like you are banging your head against a wall? Not even one of those nice padded walls I'm used to!

I've spent hours this week sending emails to local businesses, tourist attractions and watering holes to offer them free images - and even a free photo shoot - in exchange for a link from their web sites or even just a credit under any photographs they use. Something for nothing, you'd imagine someone would be interested wouldn't you?

Well someone was... I had two vicars and a pub say they would like to use the images. Oh, and a rather lovely tourist attraction say they needed some shots taken now they've refurbished (that blog will be along soon) but apart from that I didn't even get a polite 'thanks, but no thanks' reply!

You'd imagine some of the bigger places would maybe be busy, but too busy to scribble off a one line email telling me to get lost? And the smaller one man bands? I always thought the attraction of small independent traders was the personal touch and good customer service! Well not in this area lol.

I had hoped for a few reciprocal links, especially now the web site is receiving plenty of hits. I wasn't after a free lunch, I just wanted to offer something back to the local community. Apparently there is no local community in the Forest of Dean. Everyone is out for themselves in these hard times, but surely it's exactly because times are hard that we should all pull together to help out the little man?

Maybe I'm being harsh? Maybe I just targeted the wrong audience? Well here's my offer... if you are a trader or attraction within the forest, and you want some free professional photographs to use in your promotion or web site drop me an email. I make no guarantees but perhaps we can help each other in some way.

So let's stop moaning about the economy. Let's get a grip and lets start working together as local businesses and help each other out.

Flash Unit

Actually it was £35.00 extra lol. To think, I was a Financial Adviser once upon a time, enough said...!. Today I received the Sigma flash unit, I must just mention that the company Microglobe Photoequipments are very quick and efficient and I have put a link to them from my website for your info if needed.

It works on both cameras in TTL modes so I am pleased about that, it also seems very well made. So for the next few days I will test it out in different situations and let you know.

Flash Unit

Sent Nissin Di622 Flash unit back today, I only ordered the wrong one, it was only compatible with my Fuji S5Pro and not my Nikon D2x. In saying that the mark 11 which I was meaning to buy in the first place and mentioned in my first blog would not be compatible with my Fuji S5pro and only with my Nikon D2x...Confused?

So Monday when Microglobe Photoequipments receive the Flash unit, I will now purchase the
Sigma EF 610 DG ST which is compatible with both cameras according to Sigma website. So to sum this blog up, I paid £90.00 inc delivery for a flash and returned, which cost me £7.00. The Sigma costs £117 inc delivery, so an extra £34.00 pound is required!!! Still it works out cheaper than a lot of Flashes out there lol. But it will teach me in the future maybe...
